Girls Scouts

This article was dated March of 2010 and while your local Girl Scout troop may be run by traditional God-fearing women who want nothing to do with the radical Planned Parenthood agenda, you should know what’s going on at the top.

Per the Washington Times: At the same UN meeting, which ended last Friday, the World Association of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides produced a document saying young women ...“demand their sexual and reproductive rights including access to comprehensive sexuality education, and sexual and reproductive services including contraception and emergency contraception, in order to avoid unintended pregnancies” and also called for access to “safe abortion.”

At a Girl Scout conference in 2004, co-sponsored by Planned Parenthood, the Girl Scouts handed out a brochure to 700 grade-school girls with the title “It’s Perfectly Normal,” a guide that celebrated masturbation and that featured explicit drawings of couples having sex and a boy putting on a condom. It also listed, no surprise here, the top ten reasons for having an abortion.

The CEO of the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), Kathy Cloninger, actually made an appearance on The Today show where she actually was *proud* of their association with Planned Parenthood. Watch the video clip here.

But wait, it’s actually worse and much more sinister than that…stay with me as I try to explain their associated ties.

The GSUSA are members of The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). The goal of WAGGGS is to enable girls and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world. (Sounds *nice* doesn’t it?) WAGGGS has six teams at United Nations locations around the world—Geneva, Nairobi, New York, Paris, Rome and Vienna. Each team works with UN agencies to address issues that affect girls and young women globally. GSUSA works with the WAGGGS UN team in New York.

In 2003, Girl Scouts of the USA was granted Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). This status allows Girl Scouts of the USA to build on its prior representation efforts at the United Nations. It can now not only share information with its members on issues within the United Nations system, but provide input on issues of importance to our members and to girls globally to UN organizations and member states.

GSUSA and WAGGGS worked together to come up with the *Our Rights, Our Responsibilities Patch.* The initiative was based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), a human rights treaty adopted in September 1990.
According to their *interpretation,* “the treaty was designed to encourage countries around the world to safeguard the rights of children. The convention highlights the need to protect children from abuse, violence, and exploitation, as well as to provide access to adequate nutrition, healthcare, and primary education.”

This participation patch can be earned by completing at least one activity from each of the six theme areas:

1. The right to be me
2. The right to learn
3. The right to be heard
4. The right to live in peace
5. The right to be happy

6. The right to work together

(Again, sounds quite pleasant and well-meaning, right?)
HOWEVER, The CRC is not a harmless or passive document: it is an instrument for widespread social change! What is the UNCRC and how does it relate to each of the areas that the Girl Scout must participate in to obtain their patch:

1. The best interest of the child principle would give the government the ability to override every decision made by every parent if a government worker disagreed with the parent’s decision.

2. Christian schools that refuse to teach "alternative worldviews" and teach that Christianity is the only true religion "fly in the face of article 29" of the treaty. Allowing parents to opt their children out of sex education has been held to be out of compliance with the CRC. Children would have the right to reproductive health information and services, including abortions, without parental knowledge or consent.

3. A child’s “right to be heard” would allow him (or her) to seek governmental review of every parental decision with which the child disagreed.

4. Parents would no longer be able to administer reasonable spankings to their children

5. Children would acquire a *legally enforceable* right to leisure.

That’s just the TIP of the iceberg! For more information I highly recommend that you research further into what GSUSA and WAGGGS are engaging in by visiting www.parentalrights.org and watch the brief YouTube video regarding the movie The Child.  The GSUSA has become so *left-leaning and liberal* that the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) severed its ties with the organization – even though they were started by the same people in 1912! The BSA now partners with American Heritage Girls

Today’s GSUSA is NOT your mother’s Girl Scouts anymore. They have a hidden agenda. The GSUSA accepts gays and lesbians, and allows its members to substitute another word in place of "God" when reciting the Girl Scout Promise; but how many of our churches still let them utilize their facilities free of charge?  How do those cookies taste now?
